    Description

GOODYEAR 1930s Printers Watermark Metal Die Block
Measures about 5 1/2" in Length and 1 1/4" Wide.  When laying down it is about 1/2" Tall not including the raised lettering.
Die weighs in at 1 Lb 3 ounces and is made of metal.  A magnet does stick to it.
The inside of the lettering and shoe is recessed, not solid.
Not dated but the Style of the logo places it around the 1930's
I was told that this die was used by the Hammermill Paper Company in their process of putting watermarks on a company's letterhead or stationery paper.  I was told the process involved pouring a sort of liquid rubber onto the die and when cooled it was peeled off and used to make watermarks during the printing process?  I cannot confirm this but it does seem different than normal print dies.
