Description
GOODYEAR 1930s Printers Watermark Metal Die BlockMeasures about 5 1/2" in Length and 1 1/4" Wide. When laying down it is about 1/2" Tall not including the raised lettering.
Die weighs in at 1 Lb 3 ounces and is made of metal. A magnet does stick to it.
The inside of the lettering and shoe is recessed, not solid.
Not dated but the Style of the logo places it around the 1930's
I was told that this die was used by the Hammermill Paper Company in their process of putting watermarks on a company's letterhead or stationery paper. I was told the process involved pouring a sort of liquid rubber onto the die and when cooled it was peeled off and used to make watermarks during the printing process? I cannot confirm this but it does seem different than normal print dies.

condition. Die shows some wear in the form of scratches, dings, tool marks and some patina to the metal. Wear is mostly around the ends/edges/sides. Overall still presents itself well for a shop used piece from the 1930's. Please review all photos and judge for yourself. Use
